UK Releae Date & Prices

The iPhone will be released in the UK on the 9th November. The phones will be sold in O2, Carphone Warehouse and Apple stores costing £269 including VAT.

The iPhone will be on the O2 network. It will be on an 18-month contract on a tariff of £35 (200 minutes and 200 texts), £45 (600 minutes and 500 texts) and £55 per month (1200 minutes and 500 texts), all of which will include unlimited mobile data usage.

Highlighted parts made me laugh hardest. What a load of pish.

Watch it fly out the doors though.

even if it does come out here it wont be compatable with any of the fone operators here. i wanted it but now it looks like a con.

nokia n91i looks the part tho, 8GB hard drive!

O2 has the UK rights to the iPhone.

I think it looks fantastic. I'm getting an iPod Touch when it's released next week but I would rather get an iPhone if it didn't have extortional monthly costs.

Well it is rediculously overpriced and the storage is inadequate, but it is one fancy gadget that can do alot more than most phones/mp3 players can.

Does this not take the conventional sim card then? So there's no chance of using my '£10 a month, 500 free texts' sim?

I can't be fucked reading for it and i'm sure someone will know here.

I've heard about people hacking it so they don't have to deal with the contract and can use whatever provider they want.
But I'm not sure how all that works out technically..

There's vids on youtube on how to unlock it. But i don't think you can actually buy the iphone without being tied to the original contract.

Apple are slowly taking over the Earth...

Apparently the price in America dropped by like £100 dollars. Everyone who'd bought it at the original price complained so Steve was like 'Fine, have $100 back!' I think it was $100 store credit or equivalent. Naturally.

I'd rather have a phone that worked well as a phone rather than a phone that was in fact a GPS, internet thing, MP3 player etc etc, none of them being features I would use on my phone.

Saw them in NY apple store. nothing special and my first impression was that it was slightly on the bulky side compared to other phones out just now.

Well your not going to buy it just for the phone but for the ipod too. At least it would save you having to carry around both.

I can only hope this blows the iPhone away.

What this person writes in the link above is what I've been trying to tell people about Apple for years but just couldn't say/write it as well as him.
