Well, he's got a couple of tunes up and I felt we should gather some of the lyrics of his songs.

Dead Street Affair

Well, there's a stone-cold something stealing my smoke.
A half-dead wisdom, a destitute joke.
A frog in the throat of everyone that you meet.
(?) in your drink and a dog in a (?).

I can't be sure if it was here all along,
I thought I was right but then they told me I'm wrong.

It's a bad bad feeling chasing me home.

Well, there's a cat-skinned hero asleep in my bed.
Satellite monkey dressed in socialite red.

I can't be sure if the whole thing is real,
They took all my nerves and then they told me to feel,

It's an evil morning and a black afternoon.

Well, it was there when I woke, now it won't go away.
And the faces are ugly and the sunflowers are grey.
It's the kind of week you wish you were blind.
All the boys wanna kill ya, and the girls, they're unkind.

It's a slow burning dead street affair.

Well it's an armageddon rumble (?) through the wall.
Silent assassin running guns in my hall.

Right's on the left and I'm stuck in between.
There's nobody here to suck the life from this scene,

It's a slow dying dead street affair.
Yes, it's a slow burning dead street affair.
Yeah, it's a slow dying dead street affair.

She's My Shaker

Well, she died in a fever (the) other day, she couldn't shake anymore.
Though I said I wouldn't leave her, I had my eyes pinned down to the floor.
There was nothing anybody could do, chase the devil ashore.
And though I said I wouldn't leave her, I couldn't stay anymore.

You don't move like you used to,
You don't move like you used to,

Though you'll never know how,
She's my shaker now.

And they went: La, la, la...

Well, you know you make me nervous, but I would've(?) take a bullet for you.
And if life's a bed of roses, what's the use in all the lies you go through?
Well there's nothing in The Bible says you can't shake it, shaker, is there, Angeline?
And when you stumble on the answer to ??? (sounds like he says Jamaica...I wasn't aware Jamaica needed answers).

You don't move like you used to,
You don't move like you used to,

Though you'll never know how,
She's my shaker now.

And they went: La, la, la...

And oh, ring me up, ring me up,
Give me your advances,
Cut me loose, cut me loose,
Let me take my chances.

Angeline, Angeline,
Call me when you need me.
Tie me up, pin me down, dry my eyes and feed me.

You don move like you used to, (x3)

Well they went: La, la, la...

Bonnie & Clyde

You can call me twice, I ain't call you daddy.
You could tell your best just to deny that you won't have me.
Oh, lady grumble all night long.
Oh, you're fading and wrong.

I could tell you why, you could tell me maybe.
How is it you could never left a hand to save me?
Oh, careless mumbles all day long.
Now your friends have all gone.

Oh + Ah + Oh + Ah.

I could steal you once, you won't see me coming.
In your nightdress, I'll be there, just to see you running.
Oh, tasteless wonder as she's gone.
With her paper shinbone.

I could be your Cid, you could be my Nancy.
We could live in (?) Town, or anywhere you fancy!
Oh, my worst nightmare, ten feet tall.
High-priced medicine ball.

Oh + Ah + Oh + Ah.

We could steal a car, we could steal a wagon.
We could cut my hair or pin the tail upon a dragon.
Oh, take my money, sell my friends.
'Till this chaos ends.

We could pay the rent only when it suits us.
Count my days upon the wall before your uncle shoots us.
Oh, see-through house dress, big black teeth,
Help me solve my grief.

We could be the clutch, we could be the sisters.
We could sell them everything from more of these shoes to blisters.
Oh, teenage fumbles, morning bliss.
Nothing beats this!

I think, personally, that his song writing has definitely evolved from Free Urban clown (which...I didn't understand what the songs were about half the time) to Costello Music (which, had brilliant lyrics but not his best) to Here We Stand (which had Acid Jazz Singer, and that's just a gem of a song) to Codeine Velvet Club (where he wrote Hollywood and I consider that one of the best written songs of recent times).

Sometimes You Just Can't Win

I won't take your pity, and I won't be ignored.
I don't want your money but I wouldn't mind to be adored.
I won't be forgotten, I won't be denied.
I won't be held guilty for anything I might've tried.

And there's no spooks around my door,
Paying my rent or sweeping my floor.
I never said things I never did mean,
Once or twice I've lied.

I've always been kind to women who have taken me in.
Sometimes you're a loser, sometimes you just can't win.

I can't live forever, I can't be blamed for trying.
I can't beg forgiveness just because you won't find me crying.
I won't want you thinking I'm a gutless man.
Street fights they don't scare me, I avoid them when I can.

And there's no doubt about it, it's a pointless age built with men among rage.
It's hard to be the saint when you steal the best lines someone else implied.

I never been one to talk much, I've just lived in my skin.
Sometimes you're a sinner, sometimes you just can't win.

I won't be a hound dog, I won't be a bust.
I can't compensate you for anything you might've lost.
I won't understand you, what's to understand.
You joined last night's choir, and me, I joined a band!

And there's no reason, just cold-hard facts,
Nothing's ever real and the truth just cracks.
I don't want this 'cause I've got mine,
And jealousy's not my style.

Someday I'll get bored and contemplate giving in.
Sometimes you're a loser, sometimes you just can't win.

These lyrics are incredible, and the melody is beautiful. I don't know one person who couldn't relate to this. Even if you don't speak English, you can pick up on how he is feeling just through the melody. By the way, Thank you Jon.

Pretty good, just a few ones which I think are/might be right, not 100% on them all though, somebody probably has better hearing then myself.

On a more musicial note (no pun intended...) i'm liking the new songs coming from Jon, looking foward to the album!

Dead Street Affair
There's nobody here to suck the life from this scene

Bonnie and Clyde
Oh, lady grumble all night long.
Oh, you're fading and wrong.

I could be your Cid, you could be my Nancy.
We could live in double (?) Town, or anywhere you fancy!

Oh, take my money, sell my friends.
'Till this chaos ends

Oh, see-through house dress, big black teeth,
Help me solve my grief.

I also thought it was "Double" Town but it also sounds like he says "Dublin".
